Friends & Neighbors

Studio 360's Kurt Anderson had an interesting conversation with Susan Cheever about the soap opera-like relationships between Thoreau, Emerson, Hawthorne, Louisa May Alcott and Margaret Fuller. (Cheever's written a book about this literary rat pack called American Bloomsbury). Having visited their homes and stomping grounds in Concord, Massachusetts (a highly recommended stop on the map, by the way), I'm interested in checking out the book. Wouldn't it be great if they'd turn this one into a movie? -- Amy

What a wonderful idea. I would love to catch up on this movie if it ever gets made. By the way, thanks for the really cool info.

  2. I was particularly intrigued to hear that Thoreau was the inspiration behind "Laurie" in Little Women. How did I not know this before now?
