Word To The G-Squared

Yes, I'm a day late and a dollar short with this post, but the Golden Globe nominations are out. I'd write more, but award shows bore me. Nevertheless, congrats to Keira Knightley who was nominated for best actress in a musical or comedy film. Here's what she had to say about being recognized.

Now on to more interesting things, like this clever imagining of Pride & Prejudice and King Kong by Joyce Wadler. --Amy

  1. Speaking of King Kong.... Last night my sister and I went to see Brokeback Mountain and it was sold out. She talked me into seeing King Kong instead, which I really did not want to do. I was right. It was intolerably bad. We eventually walked out. What an incredible waste of time. Adrian Brody looked good though, at least for the five minutes of the film when he wasn't being trampled or chased by dinosaur. --Kim

Adrian Brody?! Of tiny dog in a designer bag and coca-cola ads? Yikes....

  3. I don't know about all that, but I presume the director was trying to contrast Brody's role with the virility of the ape. If that's what Jackson was attempting, he succeeded. Brody came off as sweet and bumbling. --Kim

  4. I actually have to admit that I liked King Kong (which I hadn't expected.) I thought it was thrilling. My only beef was that I would have preferred more interaction between the babe and the monkey. Her little juggling act was dumb, even by a gorilla's standards. -- Amy
